April News

Larkhill BE - This weekend was super busy - coursebuilding at Langford on their new arena followed by a trip to wilts for our first BE event of the season. Harmony was an absolute pain in the dressage and was convinced she was going xc. The test was a nightmare and we fell out with each other - which has never happened before!!! She then redeemed herself with super SJ and XC clears and was lucky not to get too fast time penalties. Despite all of this, by some miracle we ended up 3rd and qualified for another regionalf final outing! There was some hot competition in our section with Lucinda Fredericks, Sacha Pemble and Kitty Boggis to name a few - fortunately they were HC, but made the dressage rather competitive.!

Tweseldown Hunter trials

On Saturday - we went to tweseldown to give Smurph his first taste of competition cross country! He was very excited but behaved very well! Tom and Bugz accompanied us around the pairs, and we went clear with a reasonably fast time! Bugz led to start with and then Smurph took over - nothing seemed to phase him which was good - even the water! It was not a particulalry flowing course and our steering needs a little work, which the sharp dog leg turns highlighted! We ended up with 5 dressing penalties from the double, as Bugz is much faster through the air than Smurph. We then left before the end, so don't know the final results.

Tweseldown 21/22 Harmony did an excellent dressage, clear SJ and XC, with 4 time penalties xc which I was a little confused about! However as the class progressed it was clear that she was one of the fastest with no one inside the time and only 3 SJ clears! This left us in first place, with a big cheque for £75!!!!!!- the most I have ever won! Smurph also went well in the dressage on Sunday and came 6th in the prelim - he's definitely starting to get there with schooling! - photos are on the slide show!

14/ 15 April

This weekend was once again busy!

Saturday was cross country at Tweseldown for Smurph- it was his first sole competition xc and the course was rather stiff! There were lots of skinnies and ofset jumps at the start and despite my concerns, he flew round these! We did however have a little trouble in the water, as we had to do the open route and jump out and then go back in. He simply didn't understand how to jump out of the water and had two stops! I think we need to practise some up steps! However we were still very pleased with his performance! Photos to follow shortly!

29/04/07

We got a last minute entry to chase farm CT. We only got in at 9pm the night before, which meant Tom had trouble learning his test! Bugz went beautifully, and although one judge loved him, it was not the judge that was judging! Smurph went OK, but found the ground a little unbalancing- to get a respectab;e mark. In the jumping we both had silly 4 faults, so ended up just below the placings! Photos on the slide show
