Rogate: Meon ODE 2nd July

Tom and Ellie travelled to Rogate to do the novice ODE. Frosty was his usual self in the dressage, but the judge seemed to like him well enough. Tom and Bugz did a lovely test, but unfortuantely were not liked by the judge and finished a few marks ahead of Frosty and Ellie. Both then went on to jump double clears and finish on their dressage scores, despite some dubious show jumping courses. They ended up in 4th and 5th places respectively.

Smarty

On Saturday we went to watch Hickstead and popped in to Badgers Wood stud on the way. It was very sad to hear about Mars's recent departure to pastures new, but lovely to see all his foals again. Smarty was in the summer grazing paddock and has definitely grown since last time. She was very interested to see us and seemed bold and friendly- long may it continue! I hope that you enjoy the lovely pictures of her!

Aren't I gorgeous?

RC area Horse trials

We all travelled to Larkhill in Wiltshire on Saturday, ready for the area qualifier on Sunday. Fortunately it rained hard all night and morning, so the ground was actually nice and soft. Frosty and Tom did the novice and after a rather argumentative dressage, did a lovely SJ clear. They then went beautifully round the xc until Frosty decided to do one of his super sharp spooks just before a very narrow arrowhead brush. Tom soon put him straight and finished in a very determined manner. Harmony was doing the PN and did an ok dressage. Actually she went beautifully, but the judge wasn't particularly amazed! She had one down in the show jumping and flew around the xc over some very technical fences and was very generous to me as I wasn't seeing the best of strides that day!! Fortunately the xc caused many problems and time also played an important part. I ended up coming first with the least number of time faults! This means I qualified for the Offchurch national finals in August!
