Novice Teams:
This year there were a lot of teams- 17, all competing in two arenas. Meon had two teams: Helen, Kirsty, Cait and Vicky; and then me, Ony, Sarah and Helen D. Once again the NFPE were victorious, with their small ponies and not so small adults! Kirsty did a lovely test to come 3rd, whilst the team came 5th. Well done all! Smurph did an OK test to come 16th individually - he has the grumps at the moment, as he is not keen on doing quite so much dressage!!!
July News
Area 17 RC dressage Qualifier
This year we were moved from the Brock Park venue, to the edge of the New Forest, which turned out to be a distant, but nice place! The weather was not too bad and everyone had a fairly enjoyable day (as far as dressage goes!) Sorry but not so many photos this time! Only a few new faces made their way onto my dad's happy snapping!
Mattingly 28/7
we managed to be one of the few classes to run this weekend. Most were cancelled due to wet weather, but the going proved to be perfect! Smurph did the pre intro and went really well to come 6th! and finish on his dressage score of 36. He went well in the dressage despite spooking at the flowers, did a good SJ and a lovely clear XC at a good pace! We had lots of supporters too - Tom's mum and dad came, my dad was chief photographer and Tom and Sian groomed! He was beaten by some rather good combinations who had all previosly done or won PN!
Riding Test
This time we had a team of Me, Helen, Barbara and Carol. Everybody went very well this time and as well as this, the judge seemed to be marking correctly!!!! (which always helps!) Carol did a stunning test and earned a very high percentage of 73.5. Harmony matched this in a different arena with 73 percent. Helen and Barbara both went well too and the team ended up 1st! to qualify for Lincoln! I was 1st individually, carol was a close 2nd, with Helen 6th on speedy. At last - some success!!!
Open Teams:
Once again, there were tons of teams - 18 in total! Meon had two teams: me, Carol, Barbara, and Sam as well as- Helen Carol, Jane and Sally. Fortunes were once again mixed! Sam did amazingly to win the elementary, whilst Carol, Barbara and myself all went Ok and only got very Ok marks!!! The team also did OK to come 3rd behind current champions Chilworth. I know that on a different day - we could have definitely moved up the order! Helen went well to come 3rd in her arena. Harmony's test was mediocre and only got a very mediocre mark! She was free and flexible but the judge seemed to prefer more uptogether types! That's dressage!
July - update - since going to the jazz festival in montreal to see prince, we have returned to England and life is as hectic as ever! I have been doing lots of school work and schooling horses. This weekend Tom's parents came to visit as they are over from Abu Dhabi. On Friday we went to Hickstead and saw the nations cup. We got super members tickets and had coffee, lunch and afternoon tea in the restuarant as part of the package!! there were some good shops and we got some good bargains! Then we went to Mattingly, before going to Langford to coursebuild on Sunday - where there were millions of people and they jumped late into the night!
