July News
Sorry - so far it's been a quiet start to the month! School has been bonkers in the run up to the summer hols and I have now finally broken up!! Yeah!!!! Having a small break before I get down to the nitty gritty of more planning and work! Horses were shod today in the pouring rain!
This weekend I am coursebuilding again, and am also doing this the following week! Then we are going to Hickstead and doing other summer stuff, so lots to report on coming up!
Royal Naval champs 12 / 13 July
Well we were originally supposed to be coursebuilding this, and when we went to build on Friday - it turned out to be on SParsholt's new outdoor arena, and thought it would be lovely if Tom had a go on Smurph. He has started jumping him in the field and although he has found out what hard work he can be, his long legs have proved to be a useful tool! So whilst I coursebuilt, Tom jumped Smurph around the first class - 2 phase. The good news is - he jumped really well ( well if we are going to be perfect, he lost his way and concentration at one point and presented Smurph a little crooked to one jump) but apart from this he did Ok especially considering I am the world's worst critic! He had an unlucky 4 faults at the last stile jump in the jump off, and actually won the class. The bad news is - we could find no way of relating him to any army navy or air force recruit, and so he had to jump HC and therefore got no prize!!! PS Springy was most upset at having her pictures removed from the website, so is sharing Smurph's glory with her win from last month!
19 / 20 July - Chase farm
Well at the end of this week we had Tom's parents over to entertain. They left on Saturday and following on from that we went xc schooling at Chase Farm. Buggie acted as the honorable escort, whilst springy turned her hoof to most things - ditches, banks, brushes, tyres and logs! She was a star and Tom did wll with her!
