Eventing
Last weekend saw us travel miles down the country for this event. It was rather wet and late when we arrived. We hastily walked the course and went to bed inpreparation for a very early start. Dressage at 8.40! But half the people before me had pulled out - probably due to the thick mud on the XC! This meant I had to do dressage 20mins before I was ready! Harmony went OK but not her best and got a middley mark. We went clear XC and SJ, BUT went too fast XC and got time penalties- not our day! It was not meant to be! interesting to see also how stiff the competition was at an IRF- we will have to do something rather special to be in the reckoning at our next attempt, and have a better draw!
Summer festival of arts
School has been bonkers busy this week with preparation for our arts evening on wednesday and open day on saturday. The art work was themed from Noah and looked great! big sigh of relief from me! Photos to follow shortly. It was very appropriately a Noah's ark weather display linking sunshine and rain - it seems our weather has gone to the extremes of both this month!
Smartie Gets attacked!
Unfrotunately, our fencing was wrecked by a certain pony today, and this led to Smurph getting in with Smartie. Smartie is bearing the brunt of 4 stitches and about 20 bites, as a result. We had to call the emergency vet out and took a long time to sort her out. Lots of antibiotics, pain killers and TLC later, she is not even feeling sorry for herself. Fortunately we have now rearranged our turnouts to accomodate these problems.

Area 17 XC Rockbourne
Tom and Bugz and me and Frosty went well around a rather damp rockbourne to finish with clear rounds, but once again too fast time penalties! The team came a respectable 4th!
Dressage saddle
Smurph got a new dressage saddle this month. He seems to be an "Albion" horse as nothing else will fit him! it is very nice indeed! and now I need to learn to sit up tall and straight and ride in it! But after our first trial today - I feel I will get there!
Meon RC Show Mayhill Stud
Tom took Springy in the coloured showing class, and did well to come 6th, getting the best member. He then missed the young horse class which clashed, and went in the hunters!!! naturally he didn't do so well here! Smurph show jumped first. He hated the warm up and was a bit naughty here, but once he got going in the ring, did a lovely double clear to come 6th. Bugz then zipped round to come 2nd. In the 2'9 Smurph went 2nd and did a fab double clear. No one else managed a double clear until right at the end when a pony beat me, leaving us a respectable 2nd. We then did the WH, jumped clear and did a nice show to come 4th. We had a lovely day - photos to follow soon!
