October News
Well I can't believe it's October already! Where did September go?! Hopefully now I am back at school we will have a bit more time this month to do more with the horses. Already we have one exciting change- a new addition to the horsey family. Eva Diva arrived today and has settled in beautifully. She was a star to collect and load, travelled really well and went out with Spring in the field like they had known each other forever! Spring has had lots of practice at being a surrogate mummy and loves the job! Eva's show name is Future Gold Rush and she is impeccably bred! Already she has achieved a 1st premium at the BEF gradings. More information later but a few piccies to be getting on with for now!! Benjy also enjoyed meeting her but had more fun picking the grass and the flowers! The other youngsters thought it was all terribly exciting and Smartie and Twinkle enjoyed showing off their paces in an opposite field!
Chilworth RC Topscore Royal Windsor qualifier 10/10/09
Well after having got seriously lost and nearly turning back for home, we arrived at this venue rather dishevelled!!! We took Spring to do the CR, but by the time we arrived it was at 2'9 so she got a bit of a shock and had to make do. She was a star and even jumped the magic eye fillers! The qualifier was next and Tom did a good round on Dougal, which was fast and used most of the high score jumps, an unlucky rub lost him a few hundred points however, but he jumped the joker clear. Spring went next and again was only going for experience, this being about the 2nd SJ show she has ever done!! Tom in true man style didn't heed any of my instructions and happily sailed over the joker as the 2nd fence!!! Spring rose to the challenge and ended up 6th, despite a little detour in the middle of her round whilst Tom gathered his thoughts!!!! We were very imnpressed with her!!! Unfortunately I was chief photographer and was far too busy giving orders, to remember to take any photos of the actual jumping!! Benjy enjoyed having a ride on Spring, but was none too happy when a lady stole the leaf he was playing with!!! Tom qualified Dougal for the next round which is in the new year!
Priory dressage - well Spring and Smurph both excelled themselves here! Spring won the first class, and came 4th in the next - she was a litle spooky indoors and had a few square shaped circles due to ghosts in the corners, but did get a 9 for her free walk! Smurph went well to come 3rd, although probably deserved better, and then went on to win the novice by 6 whole marks! Also this week we had harvest festival at school so lots of art work needed to be done, mounted aqnd displayed, so I have been rather busy over the last few days!
Besides all that.... Tom is now abroad! On Friday, Benjy went to the beach as part of a school trip - he loved playing with the pebbles and sand! Eva Diva has settled in well and was a star to put a rug on etc... she seems to have a lovely temperament and is inquisitive, bold and respectful!!! She has been on a few walks, and is enjoying the company of different horses, despite Spring being her favourite!
Dressage piccies to follow shortly! Sorry we forgot the zoom lens - so these are a bit far away!
