Border First Light (Spring)
Spring
Spring is the newest member of our family. She arrived in the summer of 2005 and so has been with us for 6 months.
Spring is a piebald mare, rising 2 in April. She is wonderfully affectionate and simply loves people. However, she is not so keen on other horses and lets them boss her around.
Background
Spring was bred in Scotland and is by the stallion Mars. She is out of a TB cross eventer. She was born in the Spring in the first light of morning, hence her name.
We purchased Spring unseen from the internet and were forunately very lucky with our choice!
Currently
Spring arrived in a bit of a poor state and has spent the last six months growing in all directions! She now is around 15.3 and we are rather worried about just how big she will be!
She is happy to lead from other horses and we take her for occasional hacks around the common.
Plans
We hope to start taking Spring to some showing shows this year. This will be good experience for her and get her used to other people, places and horses.
We will continue to lead Spring about on hacks and maybe start to Long rein her later in the summer. Next year we will begin the real work of starting to back her- although being on the large side- I think we will have to take things slowly as she will need lots of time to mature!
